The sports industry is evolving fast – and so are fan expectations. Today’s fans want more than content. They want to interact, express themselves, and own a piece of the experience. But delivering that kind of engagement at scale isn’t easy, especially when the underlying tech can feel complex and costly.
That’s why FC Barcelona launched Barça.Pass, the club’s first official digital wallet and a new gateway to the open metaverse. Powered by Pass, our scalable and customizable onboarding solution, Barça.Pass gives more than 230 million existing fans (and countless future Culers) an easier, more meaningful way to engage with the club they love.
For fans who may never step inside Camp Nou or pick up a jersey in-store, Barça.Pass creates a personal, digital connection by unlocking exclusive collectibles, custom fan identities, and immersive experiences with just a click.
Pass is designed to solve the foundational problem of onboarding users into the new immersive internet without technical hurdles. With one-click access via social or gaming logins, it connects fans to a growing ecosystem of connected experiences, games, and content without the friction of wallet setup or the need for deep technical knowledge.
For IP holders and global brands, Barça.Pass is proof that the future of fan engagement doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right infrastructure, it’s possible to deliver seamless, on-brand digital experiences that unlock loyalty, participation, and new revenue streams.
Gamers in 2025 aren’t settling for isolated experiences. They’re ready to bring their avatars and identities with them from world to world, no matter the title, platform, or engine.
Despite this expectation, most game assets are still locked in one place. Players spend time, money, and creativity building avatars that matter to them, only to find they’ll live (and die) inside the game they started in. For developers, this limits how far a game world can grow and how easily communities can connect across titles.
The good news is the Universal Blueprint Framework (UBF) changes everything. In June, we shared that players can now create, own, and play end-to-end in The Readyverse during early access. They can equip Boxers from The Next Legends or use ALTERED STATE’s powerful AI tools to spin up custom avatars, then jump straight into the social gaming platform and explore, all with a UBF-enabled character.
One way to think of UBF is like a universal adapter for game assets, in this case, avatars. When an avatar is UBF-enabled, it plugs into any supported system, no matter where it was created. For developers, that means assets are reusable across virtual worlds, IP can scale into new experiences, and studios can collaborate on cross-game features without starting over every time.
When players can use one avatar in any world, the opportunities become endless. Imagine someone creating a unique character in ALTERED STATE, then diving into a racing game, hanging out with friends, or checking out a branded experience – all with the same identity, equipment, and story. This unlocks deeper engagement, new revenue streams, and more ways to keep players connected to your ecosystem.
This update is another big step toward a truly open metaverse where interoperable characters offer more creative freedom and more ways to connect. Open standards like UBF, paired with Futureverse tools like the UBF Interpreter, Creator Studio, and ALTERED STATE, make it possible to build avatars that are ready for anywhere and everywhere.
As the open metaverse takes shape, the way games are marketed and experienced is evolving rapidly. Traditional trailers, screenshots, and ad units are giving way to something far more immersive and interactive. In The Readyverse, we call them Showrooms.
Gone are the days of static menus and passive navigation. Now, it’s possible to immerse players in a virtual marketplace, where each storefront is a gateway to a themed experience they can use to browse what’s on offer before taking the next step.
Take a brand that’s launching a new metaverse football game. Instead of clicking through a wall of text and flat images, players walk straight into a fully rendered clubroom where they can feel what the experience is about rather than just digest information.
They might meet interactive versions of their favorite IRL players, check out trophies in a virtual cabinet, and unlock exclusive wearables as a reward for exploring the space. We can even help incentivise exploration through The Hunt – an Easter egg mechanic that embeds clues in locations across The Readyverse.
Chronoforge is the latest partner leveraging Showrooms to immerse The Readyverse's users in their MMORPG fantasy experience. Players are able to step inside an expansive, themed environment, exploring the game world and meeting some of its iconic characters before stepping through the portal to play.
Here are some of the game-changing Showrooms features:
Players can wander through 3D spaces to examine characters, items, and environments, bringing IP to life in a way static media can’t match.
Embedding real-time gameplay lets users experience a game’s excitement as it happens, creating authentic buzz.
Integrating leaderboards directly into the Showroom encourages early engagement and fuels friendly competition.
Fans can buy, sell, or trade in-game assets right within the Showroom, turning discovery into new revenue streams.
Curated video content can build anticipation with rich storytelling before launch.
With full creative freedom to theme, design, and deploy these spaces, developers and marketers can turn what used to be advertising into a fully immersive playable preview of the world they’re inviting fans into. Instead of competing for eyeballs, businesses now have a chance to create memorable, hands-on experiences that drive deeper connections with their audiences.
Reebok Impact is now live on the Epic Games FAB Marketplace. This curated drop brings game-ready Reebok footwear to Unreal Engine creators, complete with custom AI-infused designs and auto-fitting technology for seamless use with MetaHumans. Fully compatible with immersive games like OP3N, these assets let developers style characters in true Reebok fashion, right out of the box.
Following the merger of Futureverse and Candy Digital, Candy launched a major giveaway for their account holders. By activating a FuturePass and joining RootRewards, Candy community members could win a share of hundreds of Futureverse and Candy collectibles, 10 million Root Points on The Root Network, and other perks. A FuturePass acts as a secure passport for the open metaverse, protecting identity and data while storing collectibles, tokens, and memberships – all in one place.
The Legacy Gems Burn introduced a smart upgrade mechanic that looks set to drive repeat engagement and deepen the collection’s value. By burning one Rare Gem and one Spark Card, users could create a higher-tier Epic Gem to increase its scarcity and value. Spark Cards were either pulled from Gems packs or earned by burning Uncommon Gems, creating a layered, interactive experience. The drop was designed around a series of challenges that rewarded participation with limited-edition content, encouraging deeper engagement through collecting, burning, and upgrading.
Candy Digital’s 2025 MLB Showstopper ICONs collection sold out within days of launch. Featuring the top 50 Major League Baseball players, each of the 2,106 packs guaranteed at least one ICON at an Epic tier or higher, fueling strong fan demand. More than just a collectible release, this drop showcases Candy’s ongoing commitment to blending premium design with meaningful fan experiences – setting a new standard for sports IP in the era of digital ownership.
Our premier adventure strategy game, The Third Kingdom, announced a major boost to its rewards. An additional 50 million ROOT has been unlocked and added to the prize pool, building on the 300 million ROOT already earned through the collective efforts of players and the incredible support of the FLUF World community. This latest milestone reflects the growing momentum behind the game and the power of community participation in unlocking real value.
Glenn Maxwell, the two-time World Cup–winning Australian cricketer, has launched GlennMaxwell.live, a new digital platform powered by Pass. Fans who signed up in June went into the draw to win a true piece of Australian cricket history in the form of Maxi’s final ever ODI playing shirt signed by the player himself.
